How long on a full hopper? Englander 25PDVC

Curious what burn times others are getting with this stove.

Mine, running on heat range 1 with the bottom buttons at 5-4-1, I seem to get about 14 hours out of a full hopper.

For example, I loaded it up this afternoon when I left for work at 1pm. When I got home, well, now, 2am, it's almost out. I piled the remaining pellets up that are stuck to the side. I assume I'll get another two hours out of it. Gonna let it run dry tonight and give the hopper a good cleaning tomorrow.

I feel like I should get more time out of the thing. My feed gate, inside the hopper is also almost all the way closed. I have tried setting the bottom buttons at 4-4-1, but, the fire almost goes out about every 5 mins and the flame is very unsteady.

On 5-4-1, I have a very steady flame, and she never almost goes out. But apparently I'm burning more pellets? Thinking of going back to 4-4-1...

What times does everyone else get?

How long on a full hopper? Englander 25PDVC

This all depends on:

1/ The pellets that you are burning (short or long)
2/ The restrictor plate position in the bottom of the hopper
3/ The 3 lower button settings
4/ The heat range setting

Short pellets, more will fuel will drop.

Restrictor plate, the bigger the opening, the more fuel will drop when the auger turns.

The 3 lower buttons (depends on the stove year), on low heat settings of 1,2,3 the LFF controls the fuel feed rate, the lower the LFF is, the less fuel is delivered to the burn chamber. The higher you set the LBA, the quicker the fuel will burn due the more air fed into the burn chamber.

The heat range .... the higher you have this set will feed in more fuel and deplete the hopper faster.

A full hopper can last from 8 hours to 36 hours, it all depends on how you have the stove set and the size of the pellets (short or long).

And, last but not least, the MODE setting ...... 'c' or 'd' !

That's a good point on the mode setting. I have my restrictor plate as closed as it goes.

I bought this stove used, and someone has obviously messed with the buttons. It was set at like 1-1-5....

At a 5-4-1 setting, with golden fire doug fir pellets, the damn thing is hot. It's currently 25 degrees outside, in my old drafty house and the stove from is 76. On heat range 1.

Clad, I know you have posted the procedure for a board reset in the past, could you link that? I suspect maybe I'm in the wrong mode?

And correct me if I'm wrong, I want mode D ?

Setting the Heat Mode
Heat Mode, the default setting is 'd' for the 25-PDVC, but some control boards default to 'A' when a reset is done. Do not run the stove in 'A' or 'b' mode, the stove is not designed to run in 'A' or 'b' mode.
Unplug the power lead to the stove --- when cold.
Plug power lead back in and press both the up and down blower speed buttons at the same time within 4 - 5 seconds and then release the buttons, you should now see a letter (A, b, c or d) in the left digital display under heat range, you need to change this to 'd' or 'c' using the up / down buttons below that readout, once set to 'd' or 'c' wait 10 - 15 seconds then unplug the power again and wait 5 seconds. (NOTE: Sometimes the mode that you want does not set and defaults back to the mode that it was in before, repeat this step above to make sure the mode that you want is set, 'c' or 'd'.)

It also depends on the work load if you are using a thermostat.

Mine goes through a hopper in about 24 hours lower 3 on 3-6-1 restrictor plate wide open heat and blower set at 1 and 4.

I put a hopper extension on this winter and it'll run almost 3 days on a full load, best thing I've done so far.

I do not see a restrictor plate on mine I have a newer unit 2-3 yrs old not sure right now not at home. where is this plate i checked the other day and did not see one.

The restrictor is inside the hopper, at the bottom, where the pellets flow into the upper auger. If you have one there will be a single screw that locks it in place
Check the diagram in your owners manual or at the ESW web site.

Mine gets a bit better than 24 hours on the top buttons 1/9, and the bottom 3 on 6-4-1 (I think) .. mode B (per Mike at ESW). 9/9 drops that down to about 12-14 hours. No hopper restricter plate on my model, OAK in place. Pellet lengths are a mix .. using locally made Kirtland pellets. I think the fines are probably a bit high, but vacuum out the upper auger when I allow the hopper to run empty.

yup i do not have one and think I should have, there is small hole on the left which looks like a screw hole where it should be...... on hold now 40 mins with englander glad i called when i was still driving home LOL

Wow... I run the same settings... Pretty much same results... I did plug the holes under the plate, though.

I get 24-32 hours on a bag depending on how cold lately. Bottom 3 set to 2-7-1. Heat at 3, blower at 3. I am running a thermostat set to 72 which cycles the stoves heat setting from 1 to 3 when the thermostat calls for heat. Thermostat is saving me quite a bit on pellets as my wife doesn't turn the stove up too high and heat the house to 80.

snocross you can run yours that low mine is 5-4-1 heat at 3 blower 5-8
