How much can I anticipate this oak drying over the summer?

I started burning (pseudo) hardwood 'birch'....back east American Beech, Fagus grandifolia, subject to a new blight, is a very mild BBQ wood with quite a delicate flavor

I've burned a bit of River Birch from time to time. I'm not a griller guy, but it has a delicate, sweet aroma that might work for smoking meat, I don't know..
