How to remove igniter (harman p52i) pic attached

How do I remove my igniter? Do I only take off that Allen screw? I’ve been trying (counter clockwise) but it’s not moving. Afraid to break it or maybe I’m not trying hard enough.

I’ve never seen that front face plate before. I’ve seen people take pictures of their igniter but I have never seen that front plate before.

Do you think I have to hit those notches to remove the faceplate then takeoff the Allen screw?

Swing the cam open.That is the piece just under the allen head.Then,the cam/plate will lift out.Then pull igniter out.

Sorry I’m not following... are you saying the cam is what I have in the red square?

1. Pull the cam out (pull or jiggle till it comes out)
Then
2. Unscrew the Allen screw
Then
3. Igniter pops out

The cam,circled in your red box,swings to the right,you should not have to loosen the screw.Then,the cam,and the plate below it will lift out.

Awesome! I’m glad I was patient to wait for someone to post on the forum. I had no clue I had to pull that up.. this whole time I was thinking of tackling the Allen screw.

What document is that? My manual definitely does NOT have that. Would u have a PDF copy? If not, can u plz take a pic if the front so I can see it and try to google.

I purchased a replacement OEM igniter but after taking a look at my original piece I see it’s caked on with Ash and thinking that was my problem the whole time. I will clean it and see if that makes a difference.

That is the only picture I have,of the document.I got it quite some time ago from a pellet stove technician friend.Some people say that it is easier to do if laying on your back looking up,as you have to slide the plate a little,to remove it,once the lever is turned.Also,some 52i people,that are heavy handed with the vacuum cleaner,knock the lever over,then it falls down,lol

I was about to replace my igniter and noticed my original one had ash caked on between the fins. After I cleaned it, it started up very nicely, I will have to monitor during the week.

1. Do you guys ever clean your igniter?
2. if so, how often do you do it?

Most people scrape the pot,clean the holes,then vacuum through access plate hole,while tapping burn pot.The older harman manuals recommended loosen the 2 igniter screws while vac. and tapping,but yours does not have those screws,.An easy way,for you to try,is,use some canned air(for cleaning keyboards) down through the holes,while vacuuming through the access. https://www.hearth.com/talk/threads...-are-you-cleaning-out-the-ignitor-box.167774/
