I have been searching around for advice on or reviews of hot water garage heaters. Does anyone have any brand reccomendations or brands to stay away from. I am in the planning stages of building a ~5400 sqft house with attached 3 car garage with a wood gasification boiler and heat storage system.

I recommend a hydronic concrete floor in the garage, the basement, and the upper levels. Run them all off your boiler/hot water system. Mine, sans garage, has been in for 21 years with no problems.
That is what I have in my garage and I don't really like it. Doesn't have a fast enough resonse time. It fine if the door is left closed since it's very well insulated, but open the door for a min or two or pull in a cold vehicle and it takes many hours for the garage to come back up to a comfortable temp.
I don't know how big your garage is, probably large considering the hose size is FREAKING HUGE!. Mine is 625 sq ft and the door is 18ftx8ft, so a good part of one whole wall.
I am actually installing a water to air Modine heater to supplement the floor heat. Just going to tape off the floor heat loop and the heater will be set to run lets say 45* where the floor heat is on at 55*. That way floor heat will be primary and Modine heater will just kick in when needed.

I also recomend heat in the floor. A modine would also be nice to raise the temp fast if you need to.

This sounds like a perfect application for a GARN (www.garn.com). In addition to the radiant slab option, consider radiant panels for the house, and perhaps a fan/coil unit or two in the garage. For the garage, the fan/coil unit will recover temps and respond to rapid temperature swings much faster than the slab will be able to.
