"Last year you cleaned out our stove and installed a new motor. It doesn't work right. the stove doesn't put out any heat at all. We went through 4 tons last winter and we never use more than 3. As I see it, you sold me a motor I obviously didn't need and we had to buy more fuel than we ever have had to. We just went to turn on the stove and it won't even light, just keeps filling with smoke. My husband finally opened up the door today to see what was going on and was appalled, A P P A L L E D at the cleaning job you did last year. You owe us for parts we didn't need, you owe us for at least an extra ton of pellets we had to buy and now we find out you never even cleaned out our stove....we just took a picture of it in case we have to get our lawyer involved. So, I expect a call back today, T O D A Y, and want to know what you are going to do about all this. Goodbye."

I can't even make this stuff up people. Aye aye aye. I'm thinking about actually calling this woman back just to torture her and get her so frustrated and mad that she just simply explodes.

Remember that anything you post here is public domain. My father owns a small business, and lawyers have nothing better to do than be employed by stupid people. I feel for you though.

Not to sound sexist but I'm not surprised by that phone message being left by a woman. Overdramatic, emotional, and lacking background knowledge.

I bet she looks like this.

How did it look last year before you serviced it? Like three ton without being cleaned?

I thought when you cleaned a stove, it stayed clean......right? ( I would be tempted to have fun with them too)

its the most beat up Harman you guys and gals have seen in your entire life. I pulled a pile of lint and fur out of the room blower that was piled as high as a basketball and the lady says that her husband just cleaned it. Blower wheel wouldn't even turn so I talked them into replacing it. The last time I was there was March of 2013, so about 18 months. Precious.

Those people are lucky not to have burned their house down.

I have no words for this................

I wasted my time cleaning my stove once a month for YEARS now............

Imagine my pain, suffering, lost days at work, and missed time with family CLEANING something I did not have to!

ROFLMAO

I would check heating degree days for the last few years, I suspect that last year was a bit higher. Also check and see if they used the same pellets as the previous year.
When a customer go's in this direction it is hard to find out what the real issue is, they are saying one thing but that isn't what is bothering them. They are unhappy about something but it isn't what they are complaining about.
By all means do contact them but be ready with some facts.
It is rare when a complaining customer actually pursues any legal course it's the one's that hire an attorney without first contacting you that are the trouble makers.
In the future I'd be really busy for the next few months if they need any repairs or service done.
Operating a business would be a lot more fun if we didn't have to deal with people!!!

By my math, that's 31 months.....

I've been in retail for over 40 yrs and I have never seen so many freakin IDIOTS. My theory is that people's brains have been assimilated into their phones and they are left with nothing.

My advice: Do not respond by phone, it will only make matters worse. There is no reasonable way to discuss something like this with a person who is so obviously deranged. Make sure that you keep the phone message. It's best to email or snailmail them so you have a valid, legal record of what you said. Clearly state that you did a full and proper job at the time and they obviously have no idea on how to operate a stove safely and you will not, under any circumstances provide any more services for them and they should contact a lawyer if they have anything further to say.

I agree totally. I know who they are and how far removed they are from the proper care and concern of the stove and I'm okay with that. It's what I do. I suspect there is an underlying issue but I was the attending tech, and if memory serves me, they always come out of the gate swinging. Deep down I think they like being the victim, or just come from a place where they think they are always being cheated.

im thinking I'll talk with them and make arrangements to come back for a courtesy call provided they wash up the cat pee from behind the stove. The odor from their hearth get into my blankets and the knees of my pants and just makes for a stinky day at work.

If you respond, I'd do it in writing and matter-of-fact write that your records indicate it's been 31 months since the last cleaning and your stove is behaving normally if it hasn't been cleaned since that time after having burned several tons. Please contact your nearest stove shop and arrange for a thorough cleaning.

When I was a kid, our phone number was one digit different from a local garden store.

One night, just as we were siting down for dinner, the phone rang and my Dad picked up.

What we heard was, " Uh huh, uh huh, Well you can just stick your gaddam lawnmower up your gaddam ass!"

After he hung up, he explained that someone was angry with the job the garden center had done repairing their lawnmower and he had just responded in kind.

We often wondered what happened at the garden store after the irate customer called the correct number.

Our office number used to one off of a Pizza Hut. Based on how they sounded sometimes I just took the order. If they called ranting about something I got really creative sometimes. People in the office would be choking trying to stay quiet.

I would welcome the opportunity to go to court over this. I am sure it would be enlightening and entertaining..
