Hi! We bought a house last year that was built in 1951. Counting the basement the house is around 2,100 sq ft. It came with two stone fireplaces with heatilator/heat form metal fire boxes.

I’d really like to put an insert in our living room fireplace. Because of the firebox size it would have to be small. I was looking at maybe a Regency 1150 2020 or a used regency 1200. Just something to burn at nights and weekends. A regency dealer came out but I could tell he didn’t want to deal with it.

The flue is around 6x9 inside so I would need an oval liner. I was thinking duravent so it can stick out 2 or 3 ft to achieve a 15 ft length. Unfortunately the more I look in the smoke chamber / shelf the less optimistic I am about getting a flexible liner down. I’m really hoping for some feedback and advice. do you think it’s possible? I’ll attach some pictures. Thanks for any help!

Duraliner oval is rigid, but they make a flexible section to snake through the damper area.
What are the fireplace dimensions?

Thanks for the reply!

The fireplace dimensions are
24 1/4 high, 29 wide, and a little over 18 to the stone face. The sides slope and the back slopes at about 12” up. It seems like I would still be able to fit a small insert.
The smoke shelf flue transition looks awfully tight though and maybe a weird offset?
I really do appreciate any help.
