Looking for pellet stove, recommendations?

My dad is in the market for a pellet stove , he is looking at a Vogelzang slimline at TSC 999.99$ . I told him to let me see what kind of feedback I receive here... I am more than happy with the woodstove recommendations I received when I made a purchase for my home.

What is your budget I've found in my reasearch thAt the box store stoves are less desirable than a dealer stove.

I'm thinking he would like to stay in the $1000 area. He is intent on the unit that I described at the local TSC. I am just trying to see if he can get more bang for his buck, so to speak by going with another brand or dealer.

It's another stove line by US Stove. Englander stoves or the refurb and scratch n dent from amfmenergy.com get very good reviews

Have you looked at the Englander Stoves?...well built here in the US, my first year burning pellets and I read good things about them on here so I bought a factory second from AMFM Energy delivered right to my door right around that $1000 price point your looking for.

Some of the box stores carry them under the names Summers Heat (Lowes) or englander at HD, and Timber Ridge.

These things can crank out some heat, been happy with mine so far.

I know nothing about the stove you mentioned. BUT . . . I will pass along the very good advice I received from a friend when I was looking into buying a stove. Go on line and read about the recommended maintenance before buying. Some stoves need daily attention, others not so much. Having information about the cleaning schedule will let you make a more informed decision based upon your preferences, time schedule, etc. I opted for a stove with lesser maintenance requirements, others have the time and inclination to work on their stoves more often. But at least be aware before you buy.

I would be buying an Englander like others have mentioned. I have never even heard of that stove and can only imagine the headache when an issue arises.

For that low a budget I would go with an englander,as already said,excellent support.

Buy one from a reputable dealer that will install it and repair it, if needed. Big box stoves are a roll of the dice and you are on your own if the phone tech help doesn't understand English.
