Looking to Try LG Granules Pellets and/or Hear How They Worked for You

I am thinking of purchasing LG Granules pellets through the early buy offer at Pelletsales.com.

I live in New Gloucester, Maine and would like a source to purchase 4 or 5 bags to try before purchasing tons. Any sources? Anyone close by willing to sell a few bags??

Also, would like to hear how those who have burned LG Granules, liked them.

Being an old time wood burner, it is difficult to accept that softwood pellets burn the same or better than hardwood pellets.

What about Pelletsales.com. Trustworthy dealer?

Purchasing from Pelletsales IMO is safe. I purchased 6 tons of CleanFire pellets from them, and was pleased with the transaction, though have mixed feelings on the CleanFires.

The LG's are good pellets. Due to issues with the CleanFires I traded some with my dealer for LG's. Good heat, normal ash, low to no clinkers, but there are some fines. The fines are hard to gauge, as the CleanFires have none. The LG's look like wood, which I guess is the selling point to me. They are the color of a 2x4, i.e. wood. Whereas, other pellets tend to be darker in color, which IMO is due to having bark in them.

My dealer bought the LG's from Paw-zn-Around in Saco ((207) 283-6642). I know, it seems like a strange place ;-/ He paid $285/ton I believe, they may be willing to sell you a few bags. It is certainly worth a call.

As to softwood versus hardwood. It seems as though the hardwood burn longer then the softwood. HOWEVER, the softwood produces more heat. In the end it is a wash IMO. In wood burning I believe the difference works out to weight/density. A 16" long, 6" diameter log of hardwood with 20% moisture weighs more then the same specs on a piece of white pine. With pellets, regardless if they are hardwood or softwood, they are processed to have the same density. Also, based solely on between the CleanFires (hardwood) and LG's (softwood) there seems to be a lot less clinkers with the softwood.

Anyway, I hope to buy LG's for next season too. Unfortunately, Pelletsales is saying they are not ready for Spring ordering in Limerick yet. How much do they want per ton delivered to Gray?

I'm into my second ton of LG Granules. I like them. The color of the first ton was very light and the second ton a little darker, they smell slightly of pine. So far they seem to produce a lot of heat with not too much ash. I think that I had about half a bag of ash with the first ton. I would purchase them again. :lol:

I ordered from pelletsale.com this year and they were great to work with. my order was delivered on time like they advertised.I got 3.9 tons of cleanfire pellets of which I think they are one of the best burning pellets iv'e used. They burn clean, low ash,and very few fines. Been burning my yankee bay insert for 4 years now and have to say cleanfire is the best. I will order pellets from pelletsales again. I have burned about 2 tons of them and I like them. There are a lot of fines in the bags but I have not one one clicker/burnpot buidup yet. I tried two other kinds of pellets (County Pride and CleanFire) and within the first week both of them caused clinkers/burnpot buildup. I would definitely buy LG again.

I have not tried the LG Granules yet, but have ordered from pelletsales before.
I had a good experience with them. Their customer service rep and driver were
very friendly and professional.

They do not charge your cc until your pellets are on the truck.

Jut wanted to throw in that even inf you sample a particular brand
it doesn't mean the pellets you finally purchase will give the same results.
Hopefully they will, but pellets and experiences can differ from one
batch to the next and from one stove to the next.

Comment to "the old ranger" I paid $270/ton delivered last June. They will have to be a bit less than that this year with my fuel oil price right now at $2.19/gal. Hopefully so.

I have burned 3 tons of LG's so far this winter that I paid $239 a ton for in June. I will definately buy them again.
