Ya got it running for a test hop and first burn off, the topper will go on the vent pipe today. Ended up venting out the chimney, 27 ft vertical with a clean out T at the bottom ( 4" pipe). OAK another day. I fired it off in stove temp auto, feed at 4 and low medium fan, temp at 3.5,- 4, then cut the feed to 3. Set the fire alarms off in the house from initial residue smoke off the heat exchanger tubes and baking paint, that took maybe 20 min to clear with an open window and house fan and all was well ( it was expected, this isn't the first stove we have run and the fan was on standby just for this purpose !). Just have finishing touches and inspection to do. Some day we might pretty up the old fireplace front. For now you guys have to live with this photo, can't say we didn't do it !!

Yes seems so, its too warm to crank it up enough to find out today. That's fine cause it passes the low heat output test I was curious about for the up coming shoulder season ( it's 42 outside today and was 32 overnight).

Very nice. Thinking about a p61 or p68 for next year.

We though about the P68 but I really don't feel our sq ft needs that. The P61 already has reserve power for that I suspect. Don't know, early on yet. I researched pellet stoves for 3 months at least before finally deciding on both pellets and this particular model.

The only oddity so far is the -pellets form a trough in the hopper in the center. I'm thinking different pellets may slide better than these ? Don't know, new to this stuff but these are spruce, FWIW.. But when I got up this morning there were pellets up the sides of the hopper and like a cup ready to go down the shoot in the center, I just pushed the side ones and filled it in easy enough . Then before going out to lunch there was a divot in the center of the pile of pellets, so I filled that in. One would think it would fill itself in , being funnel shaped as it is inside there ?

Get the same thing you descibed in the Pellets Hopper...
I don't really see this as a problem of sorts.......sometimes it's sawdust slowing the movement..
someone said to spray WD-40 when it's empty but pellets wet from that then to a flame doesn't sound like a good idea..
my 4star fix for that is when the hopper get's down to quarter full, I just toss another 40 lb bag in....never get's a chance to form the "Trough" in the center.
keep it reasonably full if u can or just pop into the hopper at different times and spread the pellets out...

I had the same problem on my P43. I actually ended up sanding the inside of the hopper it was so rough. Sanded it smooth...finished off with scotch brite and about 4 coats of Johnsons paste wax. That was 3 seasons ago. So far....so good! Congrats!

Excellent and thanks. I didn't think of the sanding idea but I thought maybe a silicone spray that drys or teflon spray. The wax is even better, Butchers wax perhaps. I noticed the hopper felt a bit rough if not tacky. I wiped it out with paper towels before dumping in the first load of pellets , 40 lb bag to get started, thinking if this thing doesn't fire off, it's better than scooping out 70 lb! I got up just in time this morning , it seems. I pushed the rest of the 40 down the shoot and had breakfast and dumped in another bag.

Incidentally, getting a pattern of smoke stain on left and right side of inside of glass. Is that normal for 24 hours burn time ? It has done quite a bit of maintenance mode today ( room temp manual).

Great thanks. New pellet burner here self installed for me too. Hey, I build my last stove 35 years ago, so we're moving up theoretically

Dry moly is the best I have used,also good on augers,also good anywhere,combustion and convection blower wheels,inside firebox,pot.But expensive.My second choice is dry graphite(both are sprays,easy,no "wax on-wax off).Just my 2 cents.

Well right now this will have to be one of those tomorrow or the next day things. I couldn't find any wax or such stuff so now my hopper is full for the night presently ! Getting cooler outside , this thing booted up, kickin butt. My wife's plants are waving in the wind, I don't have the convection fan turn up all that high either.
