Well I finally got my Classic bay 1200 installed this weekend. Now to wait for my pellets to show up next week to fire it off. I am excited to see how it works. I am pretty sure that I will have to fabricate a little extension on the end of the outlet to block it better from our prevaling south wind.

It is nice and balmy here in Nome this summer. I bought some brand out of Seattle should be here this week I hope, so I can try the stove out pending the gate gets here to keep the kids away.

What type of T-Stat are you using on it The Lux Tx1500u from Lowe's works well

Looks great... As for the wind block, I used some Pavers stacked up like bricks on both sides.

If you use a stat, a 2° swing is best (sometimes 3°). If set at 72°, For example, it will kick on at 70° and kick off at 74°… This will help to keep the stove from short cycling. A short cycle on the Quad keeps the firebox warm and the thermocouple may sense higher temps, causing overfeeding and an overfire.

Looks great though. They are heating monsters.. I just painted my Grill Gold. Took about 20 minutes and $7 for the paint. Thinking about doing the Door?!?

Ah I had not thought of the surge protector. I will order one today from ebay just like your pic. I just put up the t-stat that came with the stove for right now. do you suggest that I upgrade to the Lux Tx1500u from lowes? I don't have a lowes or Homedepot closer than 500 miles from me so will have to order one.

There are Many good stats out there... Make sure it has a Good Swing setting. The Lux goes up to 9 but that only means a little over 2° total? (Set at 71°, on at 70° and off at 72°) which in a large home will cause a short cycle.

I have a Skytech Digital Remote T-stat that has 3° up and down (set at 73° on at 70° and off at 76°) for max but also does 1° and 2°…

Just make sure you know if its 3° total or 3° above and below setpoint. I prefer a swing of 2° or 4° total (which is 8 on a Lux).

I have a Hunter Touch screen programmable on my Pellet Furnace. Great swing and easy to operate. It was almost $70, but well worth it...

That stat will work fine... No worries.

The placement is the key part. Put it to close to the stove or in the room the stove is in, and the stove will short cycle and the rest of your home will be cool. Put the stat to far and the room the stove is in, gets overheated.

I always lean to the latter of the above 2. Putting the stat pretty far away, will tend to overheat the stove room. But no matter what house you go to, if there heating with wood or pellets, the stove room is always warmer....

But finding the happy medium is key to staying comfortable. And once that Quad goes into a "Shut Down", (and your still cold), let it shut down and go until both blowers stop. Restarting the stove immediately after shutdown will result in a Very large flame and can create an Overfire condition. Because the thermocouple in the unit plays a vital part in start up and shutdown, you want to make sure its "Cool" at start up.
