The flame is real lazy, burned about 2 ton's this year but it's 12 out and have been putting it off for a week, well today sometime is the day to do a massive clean, and replace the auger plate which is 15 yr's old and original bushing!
Forgot to ad, saw some clumps of dust fly out from front of stove, have only cleaned my convection blower once in 15+ years and we have a furry cat!

Happy New Year! Good resolution to uphold on the first day. Then your good for the rest of the year! I opened mine up yesterday and it was dusty after only 1 year. Can't imagine the critters your going to find holed up in there_g

I did a power cleaning on my stove today. Deep cleaning with shop vac and then leaf blower.. happy new year ...

i think i'll wait till sunday when it could be in the 20s and clean the flue then.
at least one day with a high below zero between now and then.
too cold for ladder work today.

Just got done, about 3 hours, took it all apart, both blowers, all bricks and baffles, replaced auger plate, old 15 yr old bushing was pretty tight, but there was some serious wear where the auger grabs the pellets on the back of auger plate...yes wood can wear metal!!

Not to highjack the thread but how often does everyone clean the exhaust fuel on their pellet stove? I was amazed at the amount of ash / soot in the flue from one ton of pellets!

Summer and in January/February. Basically every ton.

are people removing creosote or just ash? my flue seemed to be full of ash, which was easy to clean out.

1,000 posts and ya just decided to do a good cleaning of the stove after 15 years.

We need to type slower. ;lol
