I am in the process of building a home. We are going to be installing a fireplace in a 30x15 room.

I think the heat from one of those really efficient wood fireplaces would blow us out of the room so we are thinking of an open heat circulating fireplace.

Ive got 3k to spend on the unit itself(which would include doors, blower, OAK, etc. Do you concur that a wood burner would blow us out of the room?

I need suggestions. Thank you in advance for your suggestions.

You can get remote duct add ons for alot of HI-E fireplaces to send some of the heat away from the room that has the FP.

There are fireplaces that can be ducted so that the room does not become a hot spot. When building new, you have the perfect opportunity to do it right. Consult with your HVAC designer to calculate the btu heat loss from the area you want to heat with wood. Size the unit about 10-25% over. And by all means look at masonry heaters as an option for excellent heating without overcooking the area.
