My stove is burning odd. It's like there is a secondary burn under the firepot. Some smoke lingering down there too. Anyone else had this?

Clean burn pot and make sure the fire back is clean and sets down on top of burn pot correctly. Usually burn pot is dirty and fire back has build up on it and is not sealing on top of pot

4 out of 5 dentists surveyed say that when you have a "secondary burn under the firepot" it is because that deflector plate is not sitting in the grooves correctly. Clean that thing good and set it in the grooves so it "sits right."

Your signature does not say AE or OE on the Mt Vernon. Make sure pot is locked in place If it is AE the sensor should give an error code.

fire is getting behind the flame guide due to either:

1. deposits on the plate behind the flame guide inhibiting proper engagement of the flame guide to the rear of the burn pot
2. flame guide is compromised and needs changed
3. burn pot assembly is loose- check the 4 bolts that hold it to the stove body
4. burn pot gasket compromised

Creasote !!!!!! Aaaagh!!!! The recess along the sides andbottom are caked. That's probably burning and where the flames are coming from. I wonder if that mod will correct this?
