I just got my blaze king princess 29 insert installed last week. The dealer has to come back to add the insulation to my flue in a week or so.

While they have the stove pulled, should I try to add insulation between the stove and the fireplace and above the stove within the chimney?

I took this IR shot while standing in my garage, looking at the exterior of my chimney. It's probably about 40F in my garage but there is a large portion of the chimney wall at 60F+

Want to make sure this isn't going to void any warranties or anything.

(Also, yes, I know, I need to insulate my water heater outlet piping)

That depends on whether the extra heat in the garage is desired or not. The liner insulation will help. So will a damper-area sealing blockoff plate and some kaowool behind the insert will help keep more heat in the room.

Thank you. The heat in the garage is definitely not desired!

I see kaowool comes in sheets that are not stiff. Do you just rest the sheets against vertical walls and it stays?

Where can I find a sealing block off plate? I definitely want to block my chimney off but I don't know how I'd secure the kaowool there beyond just stuffing it tight?

The kaowool can be tacked in place at the top to hold it in place. 'Roxul insulation board is also ok. A blockoff plate is custom made on site.
