Hi All,

We had an M55 FS installed a couple days ago. It burned ok the first couple days. However, it never got too hot or warmed our whole downstairs after being on a few hours. Today I worked from home and have been having trouble keeping the flame. I saw online that at a 3, I should have a significant fire. I don't. It's low and fast. I think this means too much air? I lowered the Combustion Trim but it didn't help. The flame just burned itself completely out. Is my next step the slider damper? The Heat and Feed Trim are both at 3. Everything I've read says this is a great stove so I'm hoping it's user error.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

Get a mag from amazon and adjust the stove to 16. Mine throws tons of heat even on 3.

Make sure the switch is in manual mode and not hi/lo or auto/off. The stove will drop down to low if there is no thermostat installed.

You should have a decent flameon three, if you recently had it installed I would hope the installer would have set the draft.

This is my 5th year with my M55 Insert, I'm no expert but like so many on this board I've learned so much. But something that AbbyCha said doesn't sound right...."The flame just burned itself completely out" What???? I've never had a flame "burn out".... So you've only had the stove a few days, something's not right....hopefully some more M55 help is on the way. Besides a mag test, I am curious if you could tell us how much the slider door is open/closed? You definitely want to tie in a programable T-Stat, it will make your Pellet Stove experience much more enjoyable. What does your installer say? Good Luck, Bill

I think the flame may have gone out because the pellets got low. It wasn't out but maybe it requires a certain volume to keep feeding properly? Not sure, I have a lot to learn! We did play with the damper this evening. It's seems pretty hit or miss so I think we are going to need to do the mag as suggested. We aren't burning great pellets - just got a few bags from HD until a real delivery comes through. That's another possible issue. Also need to buy a wireless TStat. I see lots of tweaking and learning in my future. I'm confident this is a great stove. Just sort of annoyed it's not working beautifully right after install when we spent so much. I guess we need to get to know it.

All feed systems are different, You can still see pellets near and around the bottom of the hopper with the M55 but unless you have the weight of additional pellets the feed rate can really slow down, so if you have more pellets put in a few pounds. If you pull out the slider 1/2 way your fine for now. Feed on 2nd or 3rd light, fan and combustion on 3rd light you should be golden. The M55 is a stove that puts out a very wide, large flame shortly after start-up and then tapers down depending on room temp. I assume that you have experienced this start-up scenario, if not then something else is going on. I suppose you could have some real bad pellets, but that's not likely.....Bill

To help you, we need to know more about the stove venting setup - the pipe used, how it vents out, how many bends in the system, how long.

Is the stove new or used?

What mode are you running it in (manual or hi/lo or auto/off)?

What pellet brand are you using?

How big in the place it is heating and how well insulated is it?

Pictures of the stove and the venting setup would help.

As others have said, on level 3 you should be rocking with heat.
