We just installed our new Napoleon NPS40 and it worked great at first (2 days)but then it shut down. I restarted and the auger light was blinking and the motor makes sound but it did not turn. I emptied the hopper, vacuumed and rotated the auger until all of the pellets/pieces came out and then let it run for 30 min. The auger turned fine so I loaded some pellets back in and it worked for 15-20 min. then same thing happened. Do I have to take the auger out or could it be something else?
PLEASE HELP!

I do not know your model specifically but possibly a loose coupling/connection between the auger(screw part) and the actual motor/gearbox. Perhaps it is slipping when it gets under load but is not apparent when the load is not so great. There is a lot of force required to move thosse pellets ahead. Is it possible to visualize that the motor is still turning but the auger is not? Usually the coupling has set screws that make it impossble to slip but if the are backed out too far...ie,never tightened in the first place....I could see this happening. Hope this helps. pete

My husband tightened the set screw but it loosened off again, he's going to try again. If it doesn't work I think I will call the dealer.
Thanks,
Joanne

Hi, Thanks for the help. I called the dealer we bought it from and apparently they do not service them. He also didn't know who did so it took awhile but he got back to me and said that there is a notch which the set screw sits in and to use lock-tight if it kept slipping. Seems to be working fine now.

glad to hear that you got it working again, dont like the fact that your dealer does not service the stove

My auger motor had fallen off the shaft during delivery and was hanging by the very robust wires. I e mailed the factory and they got right back to me with precise instructions how to fix it. I just placed it back in its mount and tightened the set screw with the proper hex. Been working fine since. If that motor gives up the ghost it will be simple to replace. All the components seem pretty accessible.
