We bought the newer version of the castle serenity pellet stove as we had great experience with older model last 2 years. This one runs too hot. Flame on no. 1 is high. The top is too hot. The old model I could hold my hand on it. Called customer service. They said it was because we didn't attach an outside air source. Did it and no difference. They had me do diagnostics and said everything was fine. Well, it's not. Regret buying it. Buyer beware.

This exact same thing is happening to me and I am being told that it is normal for the stove to run hot. I told them I understand that the fire will make it hot, but on the front sides, I am getting a temperature of 425-450* with my infrared. There is no way you can touch it and I am thankful I don’t have little kids around, but fearful for my pets! This is on setting one, so I wonder what increasing the fire will be!! I am worried and concerned that there is not more help. Staff have said that I should not increase blower speed compared to the exhaust, but my Dad believes the blower is not efficient/ powerful enough/ the squirrel cage should be enclosed to push the air out, thus the heat remaining in the stove itself or going out the pipe instead. My outside pipe exhaust is at 215-225*, which my Dad thinks is showing I am losing a lot of heat outside. Any thoughts from people or what you may have found to work?!?!!! Help!!
