Another easy transaction with Jeff at Wisconsin Pellet Distribution in Iron Ridge, WI

Jeff consistently has Somersets when no one else does around here and he is very easy to reach and coordinate pickup or delivery with. Best of all, his price was a bit less than rate at the box stores, but for a much better fuel pellet. Somersets are my fave. I'll have to get these downstairs little by little over the next several days. We only heat our finished basement with pellets so we only use 43-50 bags per year. One ton is perfect for us.

Just 1 ton? That must be nice. It's been a mild winter here in the west so I have a ton left over. I'll still need to buy 2 tons.

LOL......light weights. Ive got your next years supply sitting in front of my porch. That might get me through October next season.

No pellet PIG status here by any means...We heat the majority of our place with a very new HE nat gas furnace.

When we finished our lower level to add another 800 SF of livable space we had to choose between:

1) Adding a zone to our existing system ($4,000)
2) Adding an ugly, direct vent nat gas wall furnace or similar unit ($2,000)
3) Buy a pellet stove new, on the pallet for $1,000 from a shop going out of business plus venting and install ourselves

We went with the bargain because it had both low price and the ambiance of firelight.

Jeff is usually on par for pricing with the big box stores and whatever crap brand they are peddling. This spring Jeff was at $240 for the ton of Somersets. That's about $10 less per ton for a superior fuel over what the Menards or Orange Store has on the shelf.

I bet the deal he got on the stove outweighs the cost difference of corn vs pellet, at least it would take many years for corn to be cheaper in the long run than pellets for him based on those prices.

One ton is perfect for us.

Even left on its minimum setting, my stove still burns over a bag a day so I'd probably need 3+ tons just to idle the stove!
