Hello

It has not been -12 around here for many, many years! Also a huge snowstorm! Many schools already closed down for tomorrow! 6-12 inches forecasted!

If Harmy1 (P61a) cannot hack it, I will kick in Harmy2 (P61a) for double the wood pellet heat!

Click on pic to enlarge and see full forecast! Yikes
Storm has a name now "Hercules"

I just checked the outside temp here in NNY and it's reading -11*F now. and still going down!! Who knows where it will stop with this arctic blast. The thermostats have all called for heat and the PB105's running temp is 180, set for 185 and the return line temp is reading 160. Inside temp on the main floor is 69 and holding. At 9:30 the auto set back will lower the temp to 68.

Had -30 last week,now it's your turn!
GEEZ, thanks for sending that wicked cold blast this way, I hope it doesn't hang around too long.

we hit -15 last night. crabbe pellets in the heatilator. t-shirt and shorts. no supplemental heat.
NOAA has backed down to calling for -16 tonight instead of the -19 they had earlier. we'll see.
last night they were calling for 0f and adjusted to -11 and we actually got -15.

geeze. minus 30 and i'd be up in the middle of the night running the car.

Engine block heaters, standard equipment out here!Plus synthetic oil helps a lot,but you would be suprised people will not use synthetics.

I'll wait until it has come and gone.

We have already had it that low here and currently my outside temperature is -1 and dropping, it made it down to -10 early this morning.

I think I'm all set for this one as well.

The ole West Point will barely break a sweat. Using Chow from HD, they are very good this year.

It was -16 a week or so ago and everything was fine. The stove had plenty more to offer. I aint skeerd.

Heat wave on Monday

the NH & Boston stations have been making this forecast for 3 days now, all the while saying that the storm hadn't even formed yet. It all started when they all blew the forecast for what turned into the Blizzard of 1978. Ever since they blow every storm way out of proportion. Quick run out and buy all the milk and bread in the stores cause you'll never see it again ;)

They are calling for -9 F in my neck of the woods.

I will probably burn the pellet and wood stove and should be nice and warm!

Worst case the oil will kick in......

using 5w 20 in the subie. has brand new coolant and brand new battery.
but yeah, south of -20 and i'll be taking measures.
not expecting to get that from this snap though.
this is only our third winter here. the first year i "thought" we hit -16.
but since we have gotten a decent digital outdoor indoor thermometer, i realize we got nowhere close to that that first winter.

really happy w/ Helga though.

While everyone else is getting bread and milk, I'm grabbing steak and beer!!

It's -12 here now and my Pellergy burner is keeping up just fine. The high tomorrow is supposed to be -7 and then drop into the -20s tomorrow night.

I'm looking forward to it!

Was the Pellergy burner an injector replacement on your Buderus, or did you buy the whole boiler with the Pellergy? How big is your feed hopper thingy, and how often do they have to come fill it?

The wife and I stocked up on enough beer and beef at Costco to hold us for 2 weeks. I put a Prime Rib in the smoker for the first time this Christmas. Wow that was heaven.

The Pellergy unit is a replacement burner for the Buderus and several other boiler manufacturers. The kit comes with a door for your specific boiler, the burner, the controls and a 550 pound hopper.

I elected to buy a 5 ton bag bin because I didn't want to fill the hopper every few days. Based on my current usage the 5 ton hopper will last about 3 months during the winter. I blow the pellets in myself using a leaf blower and some plumbing supplies. It saves me $40 per ton doing it myself.

oh fantastic. high of 40 and rain monday. then back to the deep freeze.
that's going to make things ever so nice out there.o_O

where does that day even come from? go home, monday. you're drunk.

It's -13 here. Using only the Drolet Eco-45 for heat in a house that is approximately 2000 sq feet, very old, drafty, and badly insulated. The whole place, with help of fans to move the heat around, is about 70 degrees. Before the pellet stove, I could never have got this place this warm using electric even if it was all on full blast.

Holy cow, that's awesome. I looked into a pellet replacement burner years ago, only MeSYS had a Bosch injector at the time, but it wasn't a replacement burner, you needed to buy the whole boiler unit.

So, your avatar is showing the 550lb hopper standing beside your pellet boiler and dhw, right? And, how do you go from your 5 ton bag bin to your 550lb hopper?

No, the white box in the background is my 500 gallon storage tank and the blue tank to the left of the boiler is my DHW tank. My 5 ton pellet bin is off frame to the right of the boiler.

Sorry, if I'm asking so many questions, but the 500 gallon white box storage tank is water that circulates thru the Buderus jacket? ICF basement?
