I have a St Croix Ashby pellet insert. If I shut it off, it can take up to an hour for the fire in the burn pot to turn off since the fan is still going until it detects the fire is out. Can I just turn the unit off, use the slider to have the pellets on fire in the burn pot drop to the level below, then use the next slider and have them drop again into the sealed metal area meant for people to store ash until they clean it after a few days of use?
I want to do this so I can restart the stove quicker. Or would an active fire in the second drop be an issue (obviously the first drop would be an issue since the burn pot has slits in it)?
