I am looking to get some opinions about an old P61 with no letters after. I know it's a manual light and a very early serial number WHI-003665. I have not went to see it yet but they are asking $500.

I did some digging online and it seems the parts for the original P61 might be getting hard to find. I'm guessing at that age it is probably ready for a major overhaul making it not worth it.

It is hard to tell from talking with them and the photos exactly how clean it was kept or how much it was used. He did say we can light it in the garage and he had it burning a few weeks ago to test it.

Thoughts? Thanks

With older stoves, you have to see and test them before deciding whether to buy or not
The p61 is pretty much a rock as long as it was treated well. Clean, rust-free, everything
works, especially at 500$. I buy and refurbish Envrio Stoves, and the rock star is the EF3
Easy to repair, easy to run, and very reliable. Good Luck

Any P61 regardless of age is a great price at $500 as long as there are no rust holes. Just make sure all the leds light up on test mode, the burn pot is in good condition and it’s reasonably clean and you should be good to go. As for parts, updating just about anything on them is pretty straightforward and I’ll help where I can, just like most on this site. I’ve refurbished a few P61’s…Keep us posted

parts for the P61 or 61A [ has ignitor] are pretty easy to aquire as they have not changed much over the yrs aside from control boards.
same parts like ignitors, blower and exhaust motors with slight improved efficiency..

Thanks for the info. I am going to go look at it over the weekend. If it seems to check out I will probably bring it home and he doesn't sell it obviously.

If I get it I would like to upgrade it to auto ignition, so I will have lots of questions I am sure.
