hi all! I have a 1975 Vermont Casting Vigilant in my house, it's fantastic, been hearing the house in New England all winter for five years now with it very successfully.
Only issue is the thermostat at the back: when the stove gets right about to temp (where is set it, so that then lap has just closed), it starts flapping around open and shut. Really annoying. It lasts until there's a change in temperature (room starts to cool down) or until out of frustration I yank the switch one way or the other (which ruins the point of a thermostat). It's not puffing smoke as others have discussed (though that has happened maybe once a season.) It's only moving like a quarter inch each time, every second or so, so it sounds like Chinese water torture.
Any suggestions on what in doing wrong, or what I can do so it stops flapping around? Thanks in advance! Jason
