Just about done with the new controller.

Sooooooooooooooooo, I decided to get the wall bracket on and see how it looks.

Well, IT LOOKS LIKE IT BELONGS ON A HUGE PIECE OF MILL EQUIPMENT and not hooked to a diminutive "Widdle" pellet stove.

Waaaaaaaay too much over kill me thinks, but it will GITTERDONE

As soon as the other timer gets here we can do the full fledged tests with the actual completed unit, and not a pile of parts scattered all over the kitchen table with myriad wires running all over the place.

I still have to finish the resistor bank and put it in the "BOX"

As usual, cooking up something.

Well done, Snowy! Thumbs up. And your inventions are very inspiring for other owners of pellet stoves. I always read your posts with great interest, and I'm looking forward to hear how things are progressing.

Now, as for your considerations on the aesthetics, don't be so pessimistic... instead I suggest you look at the whole set up, the way a guitarist would look it his amp and connected "stomp box". The little Prodigy really reminds me of a combo amp, and the control box looks like a stomp box mounted on the wall

If, you want to decorate the control box, here's some pics of stomp boxes to inspire you. As we can see, musicians are also very creative.

We owned the local gun shop for many years, and tried to retire, but clients begged us not to go away.

Soooooooooooooo, we moved it home and set up a small shop in the NEVER USED living room

We do transfers, concealed carry classes and some new sales.

We have a couch in there as well as the counter, computer and the little Whit adds ambiance when its on.

I was into music, and had a Roland Fantom G8 for a time, but after my stroke the dexterity in my right hand has never returned, so I sold the beast.

Working with small parts and pieces is a challenge any more, but I just keep plugging away.

Work a bit, get frustrated, take a nap, then go again.

Gotta love cool looking control boxes.

Behind the stove would be a real PITA to get to.

Really, all the components could have been installed in the stove and the switches placed in the original panel location, but as I mentioned, I wanted to keep all the factory stuff intact, as it still functions, just not like I want.

He really should have been more detailed about dual overhead chrome reversed gonkalators as well.

I worked with one panic button per door at three different companies and we never had an issue with them.

Finished the resistor pack last night.

The original set up has 5 heat positions
10 second
5 seconds
3 seconds
2 seconds
Almost constant feed

Totally unacceptable.
The 10 second setting (low) is fine, but the number 2 setting of 5 seconds is the maximum I could ever run without risking an over temp.

**** The shells burn hotter than pellets****

The new resistor pack when connected through the 3 position selector switch gives
10 seconds
8 seconds
5.5 seconds

These numbers translate to the following resistor values

Low uses a 1 megohm resistor
Med uses a 800K ohm resistor
High uses a 550K ohm resistor

The timer is set up for a 10 second max duration, and the scale is a nice linear one.

The resistor was constructed using a universal PC board, some #20 gauge wire, female spade crimp connectors and the 3 resistors.

I will place the resistor board in a little potting box and pour it full of potting compound.

This will make the unit sturdy and secure.

Probably fasten it to the inside of the panel with some double sided "industrial tape"

Amazing how much more space all the components take up when you get away from the "All on the board style controller"

Snowy.......could a potentiometer on each resistor make them time adjustable ? I am very interested in this as I have a Whitfield IIT with a bad board. Maybe not a bad board but a piece ( capacitor ?? ) on the board is broken one one side where it solders to the board. It is the large brown ? That is towards the top of the board. It is laying at a funny angle. Never have even tried to plug it in.
