Overnight burn in a Buck 21

Well it will get a bit chilly over night in the Bay Area. High 20's in my neck of the woods. Gonna try to do a overnight burn in my Buck 21. With the small fire box hopefully there will be coals in the morning to reload on

Where do you light it? It looks like you only have enough room to stick one stick match in between each piece of wood that box is so full

Raked coals foward and removed a little bit of ash. Coals are lighting em up now. Will stay up with it to close the air down and then hopefully it cruises till morning for the reload

Oh ok now I can see a little red glow in the bottom right corner when I look closely at the picture.

Its cruisen at about 650 fan is on low, im headed to bed. Will see the results of this at abou 6 in the morning

Well, how did you make out? I ran a Buck 21 for years, there is still one in my parents basement also. Great little stove, I honestly think it heated my basement up quicker than my BK does now, just wouldnt burn long enough. I fired up the one at my parents house on Christmas eve its so very simple to use and puts out GOBS of heat. I would like to find the Cat version of it for a fair price. I think it would be a great upstairs stove for us and would really take a load off the BK.

Blaze King Princess is very successful and ergonomic.
I have this and I would recommend this fireplace.

how did you make out?

Did you have some coals left to load on? What kind of woods can you get in NorCal? That looks like a load of some medium-low output wood, maybe some Birch in there?

I would like to find the Cat version of it for a fair price.

The Buck 20? How much are they new?

I have not priced the model 20, I would expect new they would run in the 1500-1700 range. I did find a used one (needs a cat) for 650$.. Great buy if I could just figure out an "ergonomic" way to install in my too small living room! I think I would have to drill and blast to get anything else in that room as of now. I would sure love to do it tho, it would make a world of difference in our heating needs. Only drawback is that it would take a LONG time to recoup my investment vs the NG furnace that only cost me about 30-50 a month as of now. It would be grand and warm and cozy but not so cost effective.

Made out pretty good. Coals left over in the morning to resart the fire. Woody stover I mainly burn white oak and bay but also had a little madrone in that. Found a tree company to drop rounds/logs off at the house for free, just have to split it my self. Jtb51b we dont need a huge insert in our area so it does well for my area. When we are allowed to burn ( alot of spare the air days this year) it does a supurb job.

My Avalon Pendleton is only a 1.3 ft fire box, and only about 12" deep, so not east to do North/South loading. I can usually get about 6 medium spits in it. I always have enough coals in the morning after 9 hours. It's not making any heat, but there are coals.
