P43? a little help please

new p43 first time pellet burner. I've run it in stove temp manual for a day and then tried auto mode manual start today. I only have the room probe, it seems the convection heat from the stove keeps the distribution fan from kicking on.The stove stays in a low burn,it's been like that all day. The basement where it's installed stays at 70. Is this low burn causing any damage to the stove? I have to crank the dial to 85 plus to get the fan to go on. The glass is clean and no ash build up. I plan on a proper thermostat later. And that will be some more ? Baby steps for this guy. Thanks for any replies. Rusty

Do you know what the temp of the room actually is ? If the stove is going into low burn in room temp mode then I assume you shut the igniter switch off ? If you turn the switch back on does the stove shut down or go into shut down mode? Where have you placed the probe in relation to the stove ?

The fan isn't supposed to come on in stove temp manual unless you crank it way up. If you read the Harman sticky it may answer your questions.

Read the sticky many times, I knew someone would say did you read the sticky? I read on here in a search that some did not like having the stove run on ROOM temp manual for long periods with a maintenance burn going. Thats why I asked . Rusty

Yes room thermometer says 72- the probe is only 5ft long and I have stretched out to the ceiling up and away from the side. Thanks Rusty

If your stove is not having any carbon build up or other low fire issues let r rip. Our PC45 spends most of its duty in a lower fire and shows no ill effects.

i run my pc45 in stove temp with the ignition in auto, the distribution fan will then come on below setting 3. You might also move your sensor down lower, i have mine on the back of the hopper but i really don't look at the temp setting of the stove, if i'm comfy all's good, otherwise raise or lower the temp.
Also, if you want the sensor longer splice in a longer piece of wire and place it where you want it.

The way room temp manual works is : The unit will cycle between fire up mode and low fire mode as needed. So if you have the temperature set at 75 and the room's temperature is 68 the stove will go into fire up mode. The fire will the ramp up and in a few seconds the convection blower will come on. The stove will continue this way until the room's temperature is 75. Then the unit will go back to low fire mode and the blower will turn off. It will stay this way until the room's temperature drops to 74 and then the process will start all over again. Your stove is operating correctly. As long as the room's temperature (read by the probe) stays within 1 degree of the stove's setting the unit will continue to burn on low fire until it runs out of pellets or the room temperature drops below the setting. When in low fire mode the blower doesn't come on.

The ceiling would be an unusual spot for the room temp probe. But you're running the stove in Stove Temp mode so it makes 0 difference where it is in that case anyway. I have mine in a coiled up state taped to the back of the hopper with the probe itself sticking out to the side a bit. So the probe is in mid air not touching anything and feeling return air to the stove when run in room temp. In theory thats what it is doing there and to work well there.

Thanks I'll try moving probe down so it's not in all the warm air, and then try the splice for length and distance Rusty
