We bought a P43 in 2024 and the Fireplace and Pool store that was local to us installed it. Normally I would but I was too busy at the time and just paid them to do it. It seems they used exhaust pipe that just fits together and held by screws. Apparently this has been leaking smoke on start up which is why we always smelled it. I did some investigating of the pipe and it was leaking at every joint and the joints were actually pulling apart (screws were aiming downwards from the pull). They also seemed to tape the rear section of the stove pipe and it just pulls apart when the tape is removed. The worst part is the pipe, when disconnected from the stove, swings around and is only held to the thimble by that rubber gasket type seal going around the pipe. This does not seem correct and I prefer a rigid install. I attempted to call the store who installed this to question them about it but they closed their doors after 48 years in business (owners sold it two years ago and new owners closed shop).

I used silicone exhaust tape to seal up all the joints and it no longer leaks but I would like to swap out this pipe for the Duravent twist-seal type vent that we used on our previous Castle stove as it seems to be easier to disconnect and clean. From the looks of it I need a Duravent 3" Harman adapter. This has 3 bolt holes to attach to the rear of the stove.

Is there another adapter that would fit on the current black piece that is already on there that converts the rest to Duravent? I see a few but not sure if they are compatible.

Get the exact pieces to make it line up with that thimble will be tricky I assume.

As long as it’s double walled pvp rated pipe it should be good with the proper appliance adapter…any manufacturer stickers on the pipe anywhere? And using silicone tape at the joints is the correct method if leaking, a lot here do the same…most proper exhaust pipe is twist lock as well. Keep us posted
