The P68 burnpot holes are for air movement, right? If so, being a front feeder design, how does this make sense? Ash being pushed out of the burnpot covers these holes.

The holes are for combustion air. That air is drawn INTO the burnpot thru the holes. That air is also heated by the igniter to ignite your pellets at start up. The bottom feeder pushes the ash out in front of the infeeding pellets & that incoming air keeps the holes clear TO A POINT...It's carbon build-up that you have to worry about...Small amounts of ash will fall thru the holes, but when you do your monthly maintenance you'll find that amount is very little. Punch out those holes carefully during the monthly cleaning so you don't damage the igniter. I use a small piece of 12 gauge wire...
