hi all.i just looked at a 2008 p68.stove was disconnected so i didnt get to see it burn.i did however get to hook a piece of dryer vent to it and ran it in test mode and everything seems to function well.one concern i had was that the auger motor seemed rather loud.homeowner insists its not a problem with the motor but more a function of the stove.he claims the auger motor pulsates and in doing so shakes the hopper which helps to avoid pellet hangups on the side walls of the hopper.sounds like a load of bs to me but thought i would run it by you all before i talked price with them.i just installed a Harman Advance in my basement and i know thats not the case.whats a fair price for a 2008 p68.body of the stove is decent,has minor rust on top from a cast iron pot.comes with tile hearth pad and pipe to direct vent.i dont necessarily need any of the extras.Peace Corkman

Auger motor pulsating to help hopper empty is BS. I have a 2009 P68 and it has never done that. Is nice an quiet. Can hear when operates, but not loud and it surely does not shake. Can't say how much it is worth, but you ought to be able to haggle over price. Maybe someone else can give you some ideas as to a decent price. Good Luck!!

Were you able to check out the fines box? Much carbon build-up on the auger near the burn pot? Fines box may give you an idea of PO maintenance habits...

I have a 2008 P68 and the auger motor has always been louder than I would like. Over the years I've gotten used to it. The pulsating thing to help hopper empty is BS, as has been stated. The dealer replaced the feed motor early on, but it made no difference in the sound. In 2008 I suspect they were throwing stoves together because of high demand, low supply, so maybe mine is abnormal. I do love it, and have had very few problems with it. Sorry I can't help with a price.
i told them i would think it over and get back to them and they know im concerned about the motor.negative on the fines box and minor carbon build up in the pot.they did vac the stove before i got there and both hubby and wife seemed to have a good knowledge of the stove (other than the bs line he tried to feed me)i know the dealer where they bought the stove and they say it is serviced by him

May have been serviced by the dealer, but when? I caught up to a dealer on a stove I was looking at and was serviced by them yes, but not in several years. I walked. I also did not know the stove line as a whole either.

I would be willing to bet the auger has a buildup of hard material on the end where it drops the pellets or pushes them into the fire. Either that or the tube the auger is in has the build up. I removed the auger and set that end in water which softened the buildup so a person could clean it off. After that it ran smooth.

All I know is that 8-10 year old Harmans are going for $2,500-$3,000 around here. Can't speak for the kind of shape they are in, or on the auger issue, but those are the prices I'm seeing for any used Harman.
It's only worth what someone is willing to pay. What are they asking? Have they told you any price? A brand new 2014 P68 is $3,900 before tax. I just bought a used PC45 for $1,600. Dirty but in great shape.

You scored there! I figured the price I paid was worth some repairs and upgrades too vs. double that for a new P43 which was my 2nd best option at the time. Dealer said $2,900 and add tax of $210 so it was $3,150 OTD after the $100 online Harman coupon.
Went thru mine completely. These things are pretty easy to work on and I am no master tech nor mechanic either. There are many 38's here so you can research and find out what you might need. An $1,150 Harman around here would sell in a heart beat. People rarely sell their Harmans around here. I have looked for months starting back in the beginning of Sept. Only seen 3 within a 4 hr one way drive time. They were not cheap and still went quick. I bought one and the seller had a list of interested parties if I didn't take it.

You all are more fortunate up there in the used stove market since they are more abundant. That's a good deal too but a little out of my driving range. LOL!

Heck, I would have tried to get either of them in the back of my poor little Patriot. Unfortunately, neither lasted long. I am always looking on CL at pellet stoves. It's a sickness that started when I was looking, before I bought the St. Croix, and now I can't get out of my system.
