Do you paint before or after cementing & assembling the main firebox of a reginald 101 / jotul 602 / waterford 101?

If before, do you keep the cement contacts bare of paint where the seams are? Thanks

I've done it after. If before, it's a good idea to keep the cemented seam areas clean for the best bond.

That makes sense. Thanks. If the paint isnt too thick, it sounds like it would be possible to take apart and re-cement in the future without re-painting.

Yes, if using Stove Brite paint, don't go heavy on the coatings. Three light coats works well. It dries quickly in between coats. Be sure to paint in a very well ventilated area with the temp above 50ºF. Wear respiratory protection if possible.
