Question:
Does anyone else have problems with "clunkers"? My pellet stove keeps getting jammed up. Someone told me it was because the pellets are getting stuck in the auger because they are too hard or something. What can I do about it? Any advice?
Answer:
ÒClinkers" are usually defined as ash which has fused together. I've never heard of "clunkers", but I guess it's a good word to describe a pellet stove that does not work!
First thing you should do is try a bag or two of a different brand of pellets. if that also jams, then you have problems with the stove - needs service or cleaning. It might be as simple as a loose set screw on the auger which makes the auger stop...or a bad gear motor - or just too much old dust in the hopper and auger tube which needs cleaning out.
