I bought a harman p43 a few weeks ago. I have a 600 sf house and have heated with pellets only for 8 years now. I owned a vista flame before and never burned more than a bag a day even on the coldest days. Upon running this Harman it was IMPOSSIBLE to burn a bag a day no matter what the dials were on. It was burning about 2+ bags a day! At that rate I decided to bring the stove back and buy fuel oil.. this stove is NOT EFFICIENT AT ALL No star rating from me Junk don’t buy it!

A Harmon P43 is rated at 42.5k BTU/hour per pound of pellets (using 8600 BTU pellets at Max feed rate)

Hard to judge it without knowing what model Vista Flame stove you had before.
Also hard to judge it without knowing the heat loss of your house.

On a cold (10 degree F) with a wind my Enviro M-55 will burn 2.5 bags a day. Keeping my 800 Sq Ft. house at 68 comfortable degrees F.
The M-55 will theoretically burn at 60k per hour.

Not a Harmon user so I don't know how the ESP affects pellet usage (wasteage) vs. room temp.

But 2 bags a day sounds about right to me for a 600 Sq Ft living area when it is at or near 0 deg F.

Not near enough info to offer help. How old is the house? How well insulated? What kind of outside temps are you dealing with? First season with the Harman?

I have a p68. For the past week I have been burning 2.5-3 bags a day. My house is about 2,600 sf and down stairs is 72-74, upstairs is 65. It’s 1 degree out now with a predicted high of 12. I say burn baby burn!

I would not say it is junk. As far as I can tell from your post, it didn't break, it wasn't unreliable, it just doesn't fit your needs. My P43 has run flawlessly for the last 2+ years (and I bought it used). It also eats no less, and no more, pellets as did the St. Croix Hastings I had previous to that. I've run a bag thru each of them in as little as 13 hours - which is why I replaced my St. Croix. I didn't call the St. Croix junk, there just wasn't a hopper extension available for it so it didn't fill my needs.

When it is cold and windy, it chews thru pellets but keeps me warm. When it is not so cold, nor windy, I can go a couple of days on a bag with a thermostat controlling its cycles.

That Vista Flame must have really been something to go each and every day of a NH winter (for 8 years) and never go thru a bag in a day. Not sure why you would have wanted to get rid of it if it did that good a job.

Well since you brought the stove back and got fuel oil now then I guess your problem is over. So what can we help you with ?

If I don’t refill my p43....it only burns a bag a day. Maybe you should try that.

It's too bad you made this post and junk the stove before consulting the forum FIRST . However, you are entitled to your opinion which I don't share. It seems pointless to come here and trash the product without first seeking advice on what the cause may be. Good luck with your fuel oil.

It's these kinds of posts that I consider to have little to no value. It doesn't advance the topic in anyway.

I’m heating 2000 square feet with a Harman Accentra FS. Under 10 degrees out, 72 inside and using about 30lbs a day. As a service advisor once said to a customer who had a complaint about their car; “it’s the loose nut behind the wheel”. Coming on the forum and asking advice might have saved you a lot of time, grief, aggravation, and MONEY!

What setting do you have the stove on and what temp is it keeping your house? Sounds like it could be just a setting problem.
