Does anyone know about the pellet mill that was built in Wind Gap, PA?. I called my dealer to see what the prices were on pellets and I was told that this new pellet mill will be opening up soon. He is hoping the prices will be good.

That should be the plant owned by Treecycle Inc. They are planning on opening this spring.
Their website is www.treecycle.com I'm hoping they are good pellets because their office is
located in Glen Gardner, NJ which is only about 2 miles from me.

I know that they purchased property near Nazareth, and had applied for the permits. There was info on their website about it, and when i called they said they were planning to start production this spring.

Sorry, the correct website is (broken link removed)

They are going to open up soon I sent them an email and this is the response I got from them:

"Thank you for your interest in TreeCycle. We are in the process of building our wood pellet facility in Nazareth, PA and will not have a supply of pellets until the Spring of 2009. We will add you to our mailing list and contact you when we are closer to production and have set our 2009 pellet prices."

Sincerely,
Bob & Mary Taggart

Jim,
I'm in Northampton too, where do you usually buy your pellets from? I also signed up on their mailing list. I hope they are going to make a good product.

i bought a ton of lignetics from the ace on 329 and a ton of another brand i can't remember at kc stoves in alburtis. in previous years
i had gotten a ton from wood heat outside quakertown and stoves and stuff on lehigh street. i am only a few miles from the ace now, so will
be checking back with them soon as well.

well if this does not work out we can always buy a truckload from pellet sales and enjoy the benefits of buying a truckload of pellets

I have talked to Treecycle numerous times. Their plant in Plainfield, NJ is fairly close to operating and this will test the claims of those who say there is no gouging going on. Or, people like me who claim that there is gouging. Treecycle will be using whole trees and wood debris to make pellets so there is no dependence on sawdust. They are right int he heart of the NY metro area so trucking cost will not be an issue.

There is also Notie Corp in Allentown NJ which makes pellets; they are at $260.00 per ton picked up from their location.

I bought a few bags from Ace/Miller last week. They have Lignetics in stock. It's $7.49 a bag or $290 or $299 a ton (can't remember the ton pricing). They burned great but that is way more than I'm going to spend on pellets this year. I bought some to try since I never burned Ligs before. I'm going to roll the dice and see what summer pricing is at the Cozy Barn in Wind Gap. Hopefully the new pellet mill will work out in Nazareth. Also, American Pool on MacArthur Rd. carries pellets during the heating season but they wanted $269 a ton in August (it was only $205 the previous year). I only spent $225 a ton last year at the Cozy Barn for the Summer pricing.

I got happy for a second until I realized it's Allentown, NEW JERESEY.....Doh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

my pellets last year with the new stove in august were 250 ton at kc and 240 at ace. usually early enough is only 199. we shall see what the next
few months bring!

well need to keep us posted when we find a deal I think we are all within 10 to 20 minutes of each other.

maybe if we all get together to purchase at the same time. I will go thru 2 tons and maybe get a 3rd if pricing is really great. i had my stove on a programable thermostat that was on only about 8-10 hours a day and just about finished 2 tons. i was thinking of trying to keep it on when it gets really cold but didn't want to run out of pellets. glad i didn't do that, because i had enough as it is.

I would grab a ton or two if the price was right too. I hope to try a few bags first, just in case. I got burned with Pennington's last year so I'm sort of reluctant to buy a lot early on. There is a few people at work that burn pellets that are definitely interested in buying local pellets.

Seems like more and more people are popping up from our area.

I am the south side of the area in Williams Township. Signed up for the list also.
Normally I get my pellets from Cozy Barn up in WinGap, last year 3 tons of KeyStone pellets decent price with delivery. Burned well for me, still have 20 bags left expected to be out by now.

I was at cozy barn and asked about the new plant, they said they have been working with the new plant.
They have loaned a few stoves for pellet testing.
They do not know the pricing yet, but said they would be getting them with no shipping cost.
Hopefully that cuts out about $30.00 per ton.
Possible July/august supply.
