Pellet stove parts

I am in the market for a new pellet stove come spring. I do all maintenance/repairs myself. I'm not decided on a brand/model yet but whatever type i go with I would need access to parts.

What stove brands let you easily purchase new parts, directly from their website like englander does without referring you to a dealer?

There are tons of good used ones available at good prices.

Simply go through a used one and put it in top shape and then you know what you have.

And at far less $$$$$$$$$$$ than a new one.

Both of our Whits, the raised hearth and wall treatment, the vent pipes and the floor pad for the little stove cost us no where near the half the price of a new one.

Because, people sell things for a reason. sometimes it is legit, like they are moving south, cant use it anymore etc. Most of the time, they are selling it so they can unload their headache. I would rather spend a few extra bucks to not inherit someone elses issues. I do go used on certain things. I have a great double door storage freezer that retailed for $2500 at one point. paid $50 for it. No problems. Not willing to chance that with my primary heat source. Also not willing to drive a used auto as my primary car, but we do keep a spare car between the wife and i and those are always used.
I take great care of my stuff, but you can't assume everyone else does as well. At least i'll know it was babied since the day it first fired. Plus there is the distinct fun of uncrating it and taking all the wrappers off

But as far as pellet stoves go, people sell them because oil is cheaper now, they didnt realize the work involved, or they just didnt know they needed to clean the stove and figure its not worth the hassle.

Not to mention being a used stove usually means the bugs have been worked out already and very possibly full of new parts as well.

Just my opinion.

After fully reading your post i have to comment again... please do not take this the wrong way... but i wish i had that kind of money to not be willing to drive a used car.

The wife drives new.. my truck is a 99 and my car is a 95! And i prefer both of mine over hers!

Knowing what I know now from being a pellet stove burner I prob could buy a used stove knowing what to look for and what questions to ask.
I would only be looking for a Used Harman free standing so that in itself narrows it down.
that said, if I was new to pellet stoves, I certainly would buy a new one with Manufacture warranty and have dealer install it as I did
3 years ago.. I think most[ but not all of course] new stove owners feel that way..bringing a Burning appliance into your home for 1st time is no joke
and I wouldn't try to convince a newbie to buy used but that's me...

I would agree but the Dr. Isnt a newbie... hes burning with a pvdc so im guessing he is familiar with about all the problems...

Of course not taken the wrong way. I don't drive a new car at all. I buy them new but keep them many years. I got my 08 brand new and still drive it. Theres nothing wrong with it right now because i take care of it. Used rides always turned out costing me as much money as new.

Def. not a newbie here been burning for at least 10 years. did my own install. Do all my own repairs. Maintain the other stoves in my family as well (all englanders). I want to replace my little pdvc with something that has a little more horsepower.
I am seriously considering sticking with englander because I do all my own repairs. I would keep the pdvc and install it on the other side of the house.

I just didnt want to rule out possibly another brand that also lets you buy any part that you want online at the manufacturers website. I fix everything. i've remodeled my entire house down to the studs and put it back together. No repairmen or contractors have entered my house since I purchased it, and i'd like to keep it that way

If the right englander came along cheap enough i would most likely look into it myself. (Used one of course)

Parts for englanders deff seem more abundant than others. Since they use more of the off the shelf parts instead of custom made per stove... But most importantly they can be crossed over to much cheaper parts of equal or better quality. Name brand and high prices dont mean its the best replacement part.

This is the biggest downfall i see for my new used enviro at the moment.. parts are absolutely rediculous in price.

The manufactures that I know you can buy parts direct are Englander,Pel-Pro,Jamestown maybe others can add to those, but most stove parts can be easily sourced online.

Would have to agree-buy the Harman,the parts are easy to find on line if you need them especially for the ones that wear out often

Harmans are very easy to acquire any parts for. Also a neat little stove 30K BTU's is the Castle Serenity. They cost anywhere from $700 to a grand new and have great reviews. Rich here and numerous others have them. I am considering one for another area but will likely wait until spring or summer to buy if I do.

Everything said I am a firm believer in the Harmans and they are easy to clean, maintain, get parts for, and work on. I bought a used PC45 and went thru that and they really are great stoves and highly dependable. More like a furnace as they operate themselves for the most part and can go a long ways without cleaning daily. I have two and like them both a bunch. Just not willing to throw out cash for a third one at this point. That is why I'm checking out the Serenity. BTW, There are numerous places to buy parts and you get them within a day or two on regular shipping. I imagine most parts could be had over night with a few extra bucks.
