Phase I & II done, III in progress and IV to go

I've been at it this year. Couple trees down on the property, a buddy's silver maple and a big leaf maple, and another friend's ash tree. Built a woodshed. Could not score wood offsite for love or money until recently.

Met a guy this year with five cords of rounds he wants removed (not all of it), and then a previous score location mentioned they're having six ash trees taken down, and I'm their first choice to get it gone. Then the guy with five cords said his neighbor had trees down and they'd like me to help dispose.

If things keep going this way I may have outgrown my little Tacoma and 16" Husky and 5-ton splitter...

I think the carport holds two cords, the woodshed 4.5, and the fenceline another two. I'll have all the pallets set down to hold the rounds that I don't split. I think I'm going to give away that pallet of ugly crotches and angles I'm not motivated to split.

Ah, just noodle 'em down a bit, toss a cover over 'em, and burn in a couple years...that's what I'd do. The rest of your wood looks so pretty, though, you might want to just get that outta there.

Damn, that's the same wheelbarrow I have. Mine's outta commission right now, though; I was fixing some of the wood on it, and drilled a hole in the tire. DOH! Yours looks great compare to mine....hasn't been abused with near the number of huge rounds that mine has. It has sentimental value at this point, so I haven't given up on it yet.

Thats the way you do it. I have those metal racks you have in your carport and I stack way above the four foot steel just like you did. Mine are old and they hold up to the super stress test.

Woody I swear I was headed towards EIGHT cords last winter between the two stoves burning 24x7. Blew my mind! I'm giving it my best shot this season. If it's a bad winter I'll be good, and if it's mild, I'll be ahead for the first time ever.

Up close mine looks like hail damage. Those are replacement handles. And the carriage bolts rusted through. Funny story - I needed to get the thing rolling again and didn't have any time, and the replacement carriage bolts I got had nothing to hold onto. I found some NOS () toilet bolts and a big washer. Got the job done and I never looked back.

Thanks Applesister. I'm pushing 6' at the center of those racks. The 2x4's are starting to go at the ends, so I've strung bailing wire across the ends. I leave enough slack to weave some wood above and below, and then the weight of the stuff above keeps the racks together.

If I find the time, I'm going to try and prototype something on wheels to replace those. Then I can finally put the green rack in back when that happens!

I feel like I'm nuts compared to where I started. Firewood is a lot like money, the more you have the more you burn!

You never have enough!!

Iam trying to avoid the 'More you have, the more you burn' philosophy.

I have two hungry wood burner to feed now. Maybe I can resist.
