Hi everyone. I just got my harman xxx installed on Dec 20th 2013. The installer told me to run it at a feed rate of 1 and a half to 2. After trying this for a few days I was disappointed with the heat it was producing and found this sight and read the post about harman. Thank you guys for sharing the info. This is my first pellet stove, all I've ever had before is an oil furnace so it's all new to me. Now I have it set at a feed rate of 4, my first question is should I be concerned about the size of the flame, it goes almost to the top of the chamber. Btw so far I love it.

Congrats!

Flames like that are normal when it's cranking. You'll likely find that the flame height will change with different pellets. Put in sub par stuff and you'll probably find the flames are taller. Put proven top shelf stuff in and they'll be a bit lower, more jagged and blow torch like. Glad you took the advice you read on the forum regarding feed rate. Can't believe the dealer recommended to keep it low like that :(

The only problem we have here is...where are the pix of your new best friend?

I am a new owner of a Harman Accentra FS with OAK, feed rate at 3, room temp at 70 w/ fan on high. Setting the fan to high really made a difference in my room temps feeling warmer. My flames tend to go very tall as well especially w/ the Hamer hot ones pellets.

congrats on stove....still need pics or they say it did not happen! Funny stuff. That is crazy that the dealer said run it so low. I would think he would have very unhappy customers wondering why their stove can't even warm the room it is in! Good that you found this site....good info here.

Its in the "fine print" of the verbal agreement..."no pic's...it didn't happen"

Best to check here to confirm/deny any other advice the dealer gave you;lol Congrats on the new stove and welcome to the forum.

Just a quick update on my xxx feed rate. I am burning hammers hot ones and when I start it on auto it seems to start much faster when I turn the feed rate down to one. Once it starts I crank it up to 3 1/2 or 4

Jerry...welcome! Set the feed rate at 4 and forget it. It is not something you want to be constantly adjusting. Enjoy the stove.
