I currently own a Harman Accentra, which is 40,000 BTUs, and suggests it can heat up to 2,400 sq ft depending on insulation, layout, etc. My home is two stories, and about 1,900 sq ft. Last winter, this stove did not heat my entire house on Stove Temp, and maxed out. I am sure it is due to the layout of my house. I am trying to decide if I should upgrade to a Harman P61a - this model is 61,000 BTUs, and suggests it can heat up to 3,500 sq ft depending on insulation, layout, etc. My question is: I know the approx. 20,000 BTUs will make a difference BUT will it make a difference in reference to getting it warmer upstairs? I don't want to buy a bigger stove, only to make it hotter downstairs and still no additional warmth upstairs. I have the ceiling fans on downstairs, and also put a box fan at the base of the stairs in hopes of drawing more warmth up, but doesn't seem to help much. Thanks in advance for your imput.
