Quadra Fire Santa Fe

Going to look at a Quadra Fire Santa Fe. Any particular areas to check and is there a date code on it some where ? Owner says in ad that it is only a "Couple of years old" I know how that goes....

I'm not familiar with that particular stove, looking (broken link removed to http://hearthnhome.com/downloads/installManuals/7050_128.pdf)there is a large tag in back with the legalese,which has the born-on date toward the bottom of the tag.

There is a large tag in left door, looking at stove. If it is only a couple years old, it should have a hopper switch on it. They also changed the design of them a few years back too Make sure firepot is bolted good and not real loose. Check how clean everything is. Firebox for rust, dirt in conv. fan, etc. Make him run it to be sure everything works.kap

Stove looks like it's in new condition. He wanted too much for it so I showed him bought it anyway!
Born Date on the stove was 2006 so a couple of years old is 8 years !!

When I bought the Elena Air new in 2011, it's born date is 2008...

Hmm, now I need to look at my Harman's tag. Bought in new last February and assumed it is a 2013. But from the experience of Lake Girl, it could be older than that (not that it makes a difference - runs awesome, just curious).

Italian stove that was likely imported as a large group initially ... figure that is why Northland Distributing went out of business. Holding too much value in inventory and not moving fast enough.

When I bought the Elena Air new in 2011, it's born date is 2008...

I bought my Sante Fe in 2009 but born on date was 2007.

Think they hit an American market with limited interest in a stove that was very expensive and almost no dealer network. If I remember right wasn't the suggested retail around 6k? Lot of money for a stove needing daily cleaning. Love ours in the corner of the dining and kitchen room and the take home price under $600 for a stove used 1 season.

Unseasonably warm here today Upper 40's T shirt weather if you live in Wisconsin I guess.

So seemed like the perfect day to put the new to me stove in my living room today.

Went to plug it in and discovered that the PO still had the power cord, luckily I have some spares sitting around so no big deal.
Got it plugged in and no pellets dropping. Not really surprised I haven't bought one from Craigs List that hasn't had an issue yet. Out comes the multi meter checked the snap limit switches and found that one was intermittent, if I wiggled the connection it would make a connection occasionally.

Have these parts in my service truck so no biggie. I own a HVAC Company.
It lights fast, runs fairly quiet , after a bit of fiddling burns clean, overall I think it's a keeper. About the quiet thing, one side door rattles a bit I have some silicone tubing in the shop and I suspect that if some was put in the right place it will take care of that.

Burn pot has an occasional whistle, guess that tells me that is is burning... Anyway here's a picture so it did happen !!

I really like the way the hearth matches the stove. Funny having the fireplace tools there, although I suppose the broom will come in handy for corralling stray pellets. And, that ash vac is HUGE - it will give you plenty of cleanings before needing to be emptied.

Looks good Yea, they do whistle occasionally. That's a good thing. It took a while to 'persuade' the sheet metal not to rattle. My wife POINTED OUT each little rattle! Geee, I'm lucky to have a QC person right here No, she doesn't read this.

Same vac I have. Noisier than heck but works!
