Hello To All,
I have had this stove for 4-5 years and have had no trouble until now. Had an ice storm roll through here a few weeks ago and lost power. Just before this I noticed the thermostat was flashing, but could never get to it quick enough to see what was going on. Then the storm, lost power, long story short, ran the stove from a 12v mower battery. Lit the fire pot with some pellets and some hand sanitizer. Once fire was lit, stove maintained a fire at 67 degrees until power came back. plugged stove back up to wall and it acted fine.Shut it down to clean it a week ago,and it will not light off. Will start the auto clean process and then will feed pellets. Will stay in the start up mode and never try to light the pellets. Tried this a few times with the same results. Any ideas ?

Have you checked to see if your ignitor is working?

Have you checked to see if your ignitor is working?

Would agree seems like an ignitor issue. Are the pellets getting hot when it is trying to light? After it does not light and goes through the auto clean you can open the door and stick a mirror in the fire pot with the mirror facing the front of the pot angled so you can see the ignitor in the front of the pot. You should be able to see if the ignitor is getting red or not. You might need to use a flash light so you can see. Or you can put your hand in the front of the fire pot to see if you can feel any heat coming off the ignitor.

If you are going 4-5 years on your original ignitor, its very likely the culprit. In fact the symptoms you describe are identical to my in-laws, and it was their ignitor.

Do you have a multimeter? Check the resistance on the ignitor. Facing the stove, remove the right side cover and look for the 2 ignitor wires (white or blue in color). The wires snake down and into the burn pot. Disconnect and check the resistance. If it reads 0, your ignitor has moved on...

On a side note...is there no manual light mode on this stove when connected to AC?

Prob is the ignitor, but did you get "missed ignition" callout?? Should have. Also, if ignitor is burned out, you'll get an open indication (infinity) on a voltmeter. Good luck with that.

Thank you to all who replied. I will get my hands on another igniter and burn pot gasket. Will ohm out the igniter and see what it reads first. This will be the second igniter if it is the cause. Will post results tonight.

Still wondering about the flashing thermostat. No error messages given.Does the software have a shelf life or need an upgrade ? Will be calling the dealer as well.

For a long while, my Mont Vernon AE went through ignitors on a very regular basis. I'd get maybe 1.5 seasons out of one. This is a stove that runs 24x7. Since the various software and ignitor upgrades from Quadrafire, it seems to last longer (knock on wood). I still will always keep a spare on hand. There is no shelf life on them. Keep one handy. In a dark room it is easy to see when the ignitor is working properly during startup - it glows and can be seen by looking at the right angle, no multimeter required. In a pinch you can start the stove manually, but it will only go until the next autoclean cycle.

also looking for bulk gasket material for the for the fire pot, exhaust adapter and the combustion blower gaskets. Tired of paying 35 dollars for one gasket.Dealers are gouging the public because they know we need it.

Prob not. HHT (Quad's parent co) has went up a bit with parts here recently. Consummables espec high. Its not always the dealer (just most of the time...)
