I have a QuadraFire Mt Vernon (non-AE) stand-alone stove circa 2002-2004.
I purchased and installed this past Fall, and started using.

It appears to be heating fine, but this stove is VERY noisy, sounds like a freight train,
when running. We keep the pellet feed control knob on a 2 setting, which keeps the noise down much more than the high setting.

Stove is located in our family room, but when we run the stove and watching TV,
we actually have to turn up the TV volume to hear. In order get around this issue,
I purchased a TV Sound Bar which seems to eliminate the issue, at least with the TV sound, but I digress!

Back to the stove noise.... Are other owners of the Mt Vernon, experience very loud noise when stove is running ? Is this normal ? Is there anything that can be done to control the noise ?

It almost sounds like the noise is coming from the 'Exhaust' blower not the 'Combustion' blower.

Thoughts ???

Thanks for your feedback, much appreciated !

The term "freight train" Is usually used when there is that noise coming from the firepot. This is due to too much fuel in pot, partially blocking air flow. You can try adjusting your feed rate per manual, to see it this is what it is. kap
