After quite a few years of repairs and modifications, our mighty little heater appears to have hit a possibly insurmountable obstacle. The control panel power button has quickly decided it does not want to function. It suddenly takes multiple depressions and cajoling to either turn the unit on or off. Each time it becomes more difficult. This is an old machine even when I purchased it new. I’ve found it to be an early RDS unit with the old style control panel. I believe it’s 2007 mfg. No luck finding a replacement control panel. A remote control would solve the issue but this unit did not come with a remote and I don’t believe these older flat panels support remote. If anyone knows of a parts supplier, new or used, whom might have access to on of these controls, or a shop that repairs at this level, info would be greatly appreciated. It would be a waste to have to retire this unit after all the effort to get it running so well. Thanks, Jim

Your stove not listed but you can call and ask. Looks to me to be a standard momentary switch

I was wondering if this is a tactile switch, is there anything that could be cleaned to get it working again?

Soft-touch push buttons, often tactile switches, offer gentle, perceptible feedback and come in types like momentary (on/off release) or latching (stays on), various circuit configurations (SPST, DPDT), and physical styles (flush, mushroom, illuminated), using touch-sensitive or mechanical principles for easy user interaction, common in devices needing light, precise control.

By Interaction & Feel (The "Soft Touch")
  • Tactile Switches: Provide a distinct "click" or bump when pressed, giving physical feedback without requiring much force, common on PCBs.
  • Capacitive Touch Buttons: Sense changes in capacitance from a finger, requiring no physical press, like smartphone screens (non-contact).
  • Piezoelectric: Generate a signal from pressure, offering a very light, responsive feel.

By Functionality
  • Momentary: Only active while pressed (e.g., doorbell), then return to original state (Push-to-Make or Push-to-Break).
