I'm probably going to buy and install a Hearthstone Castleton. My current T-fitting is 20.5" from ground to center of T. The rear entry of the Castleston is 19 3/8" to center. I am only going to use a very short piece of pipe for the horizontal run. Is that height differential ok?

Also, I had an installer tell me that I needed to buy a separate hearth pad even though the stove is going to be installed on top of stone tile and there is no combustible flooring near the stove. That doesn't sound necessary according to the manual.

I would use an adjustable elbow so you can make it fit right. And what r value does your stove require?

^^ best. Or the stove could have 1/2" non-comubustible pads (tile or brick veneer) put under the feet to raise it a little. I think the Castleton is ember protection only. As long as the hearth is large enough it should be ok.
