I have a an old homemade barrel stove in my shop that I hate to use as it tends to fill the room with smoke until the fire gets established and is burning hot. It has a 90 degree elbow at the ceiling, then through the wall to a metal chimney. Some recommend replacing the 90 degree elbow with 2 45s. Would using the 45s make a noticeable difference?

This could be a combination of issues. Softening the 90º turn in the connector will help but it may not be the only trouble spot. Pictures of the setup, indoors and out, will help show if there are other areas needing a fix.
