Has anybody heard of these? Are they any good. A house I'm looking at has one in the living room.

90% efficient based on what testing procedure?Yes, I designed it with a number of similar models in Peoria in the early 1980s-it should have a underneath tube to bring in fresh air with a door flap controlled by a motor, thermostat and blower. It is a 24" log unit and also may have a grate for coal. It is at the top of wood/coal stoves arena and is rated at 90 per cent efficient and the fresh air will pass by the glass to be smoke free. It is recommended for geodesic homes and with an attachment , air can be brought in through walls of a mobile home, It has won awards and the motto is: You Can't Beat Our Heat. (It is UL rated as well as other certifications)

Yes I have seen them. For their day they were pretty advanced. Im just curious what testing procedure came up with 90% efficient.bholler-it has been years so I apologize in advance but Rohn is very professional and is world renown and much research was involved proving the stove design and efficiency, It passed through many tests and had its own testing booth with thermocouples, probes and digital read outs for certifications. Brochures out of Chicago and a marketing firm printed this finding. As the manager and main designer of the stove I am proud to have been involved and if you want, authorities in past stove trade shows should know of this product.
