Took my firebricks out tonight to do some cleaning. Regency i2400. Noticed some rust here and there behind them. Mostly on the back wall/bottom corner area. Is this normal? Nothing major, but definitely looks like rust. How thick is the steel back there? Is this something I should be concerned about? 4th season burning this stove

The steel is 5/16” thick. Wire brush the surface & spray it with Stove Bright hi temp paint. IIRC, all Regency painted stoves use Metallic Black paint, inside & out.

I thought that any paint inside is useless - at least after the first firing. It'll just burn off?
(It may be okay to protect the metal during the summer.)
