Lot of folks run Harmans on Manual or Stove mode in order to cut down on Igniter useage..

In Room Temp /Auto, At what point does the Igniter fire up besides original startup? I can't tell by watching the burn pot. After ramping down when probe temp is met,
I see a sizeable bed of red embers in the rear of the burnpot, Auger kicks in pellets, then slowly the flames start to rise when temp is called for...
Is the Igniter working Under the bed of red Embers? [I would think new pellets being pushed in would ignite without Ignition] or does the entire burnpot have to be pretty much black ash and cooled down a bit thus the Igniter fires up new fed pellets..

As with everything else on a Harman, the ESP determines when the igniter kicks on or not. If the ESP temps are above the igniter threshold temp, then the igniter will not come on. If below, even if there are hot embers in the pot, the igniter will kick in.

PS - I do run manual in the dead of winter because I ALWAYS need the heat and it makes sense to ramp down to maintenance burn, still bleeding heat into the room between calls for heat. Shoulder seasons, I run auto because the heat loss isn't that great and my stove could literally heat my space just in maintenance burn.

I have seen mine shut completely down for like a hour on a warm day and also kick on like you have said. They way I look at it with the rtm there's no fighting about the stove being to hot like my old enviro witch had no temp mode.So rtm is great turn it on and room is what ever it's set at.also I have a 3 year warranty on my p35i. Then when that runs out I think the tech told me a igniter is $110. Not to bad.

$110 is double what's available on ebay from time to time. Buy one cheap when you don't need it, so you have it cheap when you do need it.

Buy a spare you don't leave your car running if your going out in a hour to conserve the starter.

Thank you! Are they hard to install ?

I don't know, still have my original 13 fin from 2009... Looks easy enough. 15 fin, which is supposed to be more reliable, sitting on the shelf.

Thank you sir!
Mine has the 15 fins..
so, back to original post, I assume as someone said, all depends on the ESP Temp concerning the igniter firing up and won't see it anyways if smoldering pellets are above it.

You lost me, but yes, the ESP controls the igniter. :-)
