We own two ventfree propane fireplaces. Both were purchased new this past October. Since Nov 5th, both have eaten batteries monthly. We've been in contact with the seller and had both receivers and remotes replaced twice when they quit working entirely. Not battery issues.
I called Skytech to inquire about maybe a bad series, 3 of the four receivers were made same year/month. Oh nooo..they said.

Company we bought fireplaces from keeps sending new remote systems, but it's aggravating as these are for emergency heat.. Living in the mountains our power goes off a few times a year for a few days each. We need it to be reliable.

Anyone have experience with using a millivolt thermostat instead of the Skytech remotes? Which did you choose?

Or...did we just get a few bad remotes?
