I’m working on troubleshooting what I believe is a fuel-feed issue with my Enviro Windsor (2003 model, 115V control board 50-178) and wanted to check what else I should be looking at next.

Symptoms:

  • Even on high heat, the flame is only about 1–2" tall and blow torch like.
  • Played with the damper, it was a little rusty and took some work to break lose. Even is fully closed, and the fire still looks “fast” and starved for fuel. Doesn't appear to make much of a difference to the flame with adjustment - I think I need to go ahead and remove the exhaust fan so I can inspect this and make sure it's not broken and stuck wide open.
  • No visible error lights or shutdowns — the stove otherwise runs normally. The exhaust fan has a pretty loud whine and have ordered a replacement.

Steps taken so far:

  1. Fully disassembled and cleaned the burn pot and auger tube - confirmed no blockages.
  2. Verified auger motor (Merkle-Korff 4515UI-063, 1 RPM, 0.48 A) is not slipping and turns steadily.
  3. Adjusted feed trim and damper settings — no change.
  4. Checked that the control board pulses the auger as expected.
  5. I have trimmed the feed rate but on this stove thats only for the lowest setting, I think it is still a little faster than the high setting but still doesn't get a higher flame. The only way to get the flame built up is to hold the manual feed button for an extended amount of time.
  6. Control board is new and auger motor is new. - I bought this used and these were replaced by previous owner who had the stove since new.

Given that the auger motor appears to be the correct RPM but feed volume still seems low, I’m wondering if there could be a control board output, vacuum switch, or air-leak issue affecting the feed cycle.

Could anyone please advise on the next best steps or any diagnostic checks (voltage readings, board test points, etc.) you recommend to narrow this down?
