This is what I did.
I had the same model exact model SJ625E for only 3 years and the thermal breaker tripped twice. Some units have a red reset button for the thermal breaker but this model and newer models have an auto reset after a few mins but the second time it took a lot longer to reset. After the second time I smelled an electric burning smell so the motor burned out.
Here are the Snow Joe troubleshoot tips on Thermal Fuse trips or Snow Joe won’t start or stops during use.
I called the Snow Joe Service number 1-866-766-9563 first time I went thru the AI troubleshooting and all my answers were correct with the proper extension cord but no answer about the burned motor. The second time I called and said replacement parts, I got a link to all the available parts for this model but not replacement electric motor. The 3rd time I called this service service number I said agent and after a delay I was connected to a live agent! I asked for a replacement AC electric motor for this corded model and was on hold for a few mins as she looked it up. When she came back she said there is no electric motor available however she could offer the new model SJ627E model $249.95 with a 15 % discount for approximately $212 However it is out of stock at this time and are awaiting for an overseas shipment. The discount will be valid when they get more in and if I leave my email address they will send me a notice when they arrive.
In the meantime time I found a newer SJ627E brand new in a box for $200 cash near me on Valentines Day so I scooped it up.

What that guy is trying to do with that snowblower is way out of that snowblowers capability, thy are a sidewalk unit not a driveway unit. Not to mention the length of extension cord he is using and more than likely to light weight for the task. Anything like that you are looking at a expensive extension cord and not allot are up to the task at the local hardware store for less than $200 for about a 20 maby 50 footer. THose things should really not be run on anything longer than 50ft and personally i would not go more than 25ft. If you want/need electric go with a battery powered unit..

It is true the extension cord must be sized correctly for the 15 Amp motor
I had the same problem and I am using the best cord I could find a ReelCraft rated at 20 Amps and cost a pretty penny?

Length matters too as well as amps. I know these are expensive, as I have an RV, and needed all kinds of cords. It 's heavy and expensive to move up into the long #12AWG I know but it's required. Forget a long #10...it would just be too heavy and expensive.

#12 would work at 50 feet and maybe 100 feet but anything more than that will burn up the motor. The longer the cord the more the voltage drop. The more the voltage drop the more current (amps) the motor will demand in order to keep up to speed. The more amps the more heat the motor will have to dissipate and the faster the windings will burn out. Also remember if your outlet is 50 feet from the breaker panel add that to the extension cord. So that has just taken you cord down to a shorter length.

And make sure you are using a GFI protected circuit

This can be confusing to anyone who is familiar with DC motors, like used in a car, for example. If you starve a DC motor for voltage, it will just run slower.

AC motors will fry.

My neighbor had a sump pump out by the front of his driveway in a low spot, installed by the previous owner. It burned up every pump installed there. I checked it out for him and found out why. 14 gauge wire a hundred feet from the house. No chance that was going to work.

Agree my 100 foot ReelCraft weighs 75 lbs and is not cheap!

This is where the manufacturer's are to blame. THey list the smallest extension cord you can use with the shortest distance. People that do not know are screwed and its not their fault.
