I am going to clean my chimney for the first time. I have a thimble thru the wall into a 8 x 10 clay liner. I think I have to clean from the top due to my set up unless I can go thru the clean out door. What would work better? A soot eater or a brush?

If you can clean it though the cleanout door I'd do that. It's harder to fall off the roof from the ground. I'm not sure you could fit a brush that is 10" wide through the cleanout door. You might want to check with Sooteater if it can reach the corners on a rectangular flue. I'd be interested to know what you find.
