I have a regency 1200 inserted into a prefab majestic fireplace. My chimney chase is made of wood frame construction. When my installers put it in 4 yrs ago they failed to insulate the 6" stainless steal chimney liner when they installed it into the double pipe that came standard with the pre fab. My question is it safe to use this set up without the insulation around the liner?..my chimney sweep noticed an awful lot of stage 2 creosote in the liner after only one season of burning seasoned hardwoods. Hes telling me my set up is dangerous and is not up to code...i cintacted regency and they also said the liner should have been insulated when installed.....any info would be appreciated
